Haha Anecdotes:)

So one day I was at Chloe's house and she poured herself a cup of milk. She and her mom had a conversation that I forgot:) Her mom eventually asked, "Chloe, where's the milk?" "Isn't it in the refrigerator?" Chloe replied. They looked all aroud until Chloe looked in the cupboard. She at last saw the milk jug in her cupboard. It was hilarious and now it has become an inside joke!

I was at Mary's house to spend the night. Right before I went to the shower, Mrs. Chalk gave me a towel. I was doing something that I forgot as well. Suddenly Mary told me there was a spider on my face. I stood completely still, as I am scared of spiders. I didn't move a muscle. They laughed at me a little and then finally got it off. I laughed afterward but it was terrifying at the time.

I was riding in Ms. Fink's car on my way to gymnastics. She usually likes to drive to a fast food restraunt. We stopped by Bojangles (YUM:) and I ordered a Boberry biscuit. She giggled at it. She thought it was ridiculous that they put blueberries in biscuits. She thought of different types of biscuits they should use. I thought of a carrot biscuit. She burst out laughing:) I also said that she should make biscuits with a big carrot piece in the middle for her class. She laughed again. It was really funny at that time, though writing it, it hardly seems funny at all.

  • The 2011 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Leymah Gbowee and Tawakkul Karman this October.
  • Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is the president of Liberia
  • Leymah Gbowee is from Liberia, also, and organized the women across ethnic and religious dividing lines
  • Tawakkul Karman is from Yemen and played a leading part in the struggle for women's rights
  • They were all awarded the prize for non-violent struggle for the saftey of women and for women's rights to full participation in peace-bulding work!
  1. Why did they feel the urge to help women across the country?
  2. Did all three of them meet before the prize?
  3. How did they successfully acheive this goal?
  4. Did they even acheive this goal?
  5. How did Ellen Johnson Sirleaf become the president of Liberia?
What issue(s) caused this person to take action?
  • Ellen contributed because her country had a civil war and she helped in making peace. She has made education compulsurary and free for primary-aged children.
  • Leymah served in making peace in 2000 and then later ran a movement with women dressed in white to protest against rape and child soldiers. During the 2003 peace talks, she had a group of hundreds of women and refused to leave until the delagates signed the treaty. She is now the executive director of Women in Peace and Security Network which is an organization that takes place in Liberia, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone to promote peace, literacy, and political involvement.
  • Tawakkul founded the Women Journalists Without Chains. "She has been a key figure in Yemen since they began occupying a square in central Sana's in February demanding the end of the Saleh regime."

  • This situation is more national than local or global. This is because in the question above, Leymah started an organization in Liberia, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.

Pictures from some meets I found!!

    1st place!!!! Awesome!

    Oh yeah, placed in everything!

    Bullying Survey results!

These are the results of my survey and by the way thank you for taking it if you did!:

Q1: I have been the victim of bullying at some time during this school year.
    A: Agree- 33.8% 25 out of 74
         Disagree- 68.9% 51 out of 74

Q2: I have bullied someone during this school year.
    A: Agree- 18.9% 14
         Disagree- 82.4% 61

Q3: I have witnessed someone else being bullied this year.
    A: Agree- 51.4% 38
         Disagree- 48.6% 36

Q4: What do witnesses or bystanders usually do when they see someone being bullied?
A: Most people said "ignore it" or "nothing"
Some said "will get an adult"

Q5: Bullying is a problem in our school.
    A: Agree- 50.0% 37
         Disagree- 54.1% 40

This show that there are a lot of people that are bystanders and few victims. The victims are out-numbered by basically a whole grade! That's a lot and if I were a victim I would be overwhelmed and feeling lonely.

The quote that I chose was
"Thou shalt not be a victim, thou shalt not be a perpetrator, but, above all, thou shalt not be a bystander."
              -Yehuda Bauer

It is what it is. You don't want to be a victim, of course you shouldn't be a bully, and you never want to be a bystander!!!!!

Thanks for taking my survey and have a great day!
